                                          A brief history of Reflexology

Reflexology has its origins in ancient Egypt, China and India. It was developed in the Western World during the C19th

Reflexology is based upon the principle that reflexes in the feet and hands relate to the internal organs and systems of the body. There have been and are many pioneers of Reflexology and all have worked tirelessly to develop  a complementary therapy that is pleasant to give and receive.

Reflexology is non intrusive and safe to give alongside most traditional medical care.

The benefits of  Reflexology

Reflexology is a popular complementary therapy that is well known for its ablilty to encourage relaxation. It promotes an  awareness within an individual of their need for relaxation and balance in life.

Regular Reflexology treatments support wellbeing on a physical and emotional level.

Reflexology is a suitable therapy for all age groups.

What to expect from a classical hand or foot treatment

A full consultation will be taken after which you will be asked to complete and sign a consent form in order to receive treatments. This information is confidential between you and your Reflexologist.

Using their hands your Reflexologist will apply finger pressure to the reflex points on your hands or feet. This is not painful and most people find the treatments very relaxing and some fall asleep.

Reflexologists believe that stimulating the reflexes activates the natural healing process by encouraging the movement of energy along the reflex pathways that link to the systems of the body. Reflexology is amazing!

Vertical Reflex Therapy (VRT) a style of Reflexology developed by Lynne Booth BA (hons), BRCP, MIIR(regd),ART(hons), MAR

This is a fast and effective form of Reflexology that is applied to hands and feet whilst a client is weight-bearing. Clients will be resting their hands on a flat surface. To work the feet, clients will be standing on the floor or in some special cases sitting with feet flat on the floor.

VRT has been found to produce very good results in encouraging the body to heal itself.
